Who will take the stage at the 2017 Grammy Awards?
With the 59th Annual Grammy Awards right around the corner, those set to perform are preparing to put on the show of a lifetime for “music’s biggest night.”
On Wednesday, The Recording Academy announced some of the artists that will take the stage. There will be an array of performers, including metalheads Metallica, R&B crooner John Legend and country sensations Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, who will join forces for a duet. The two recently completed the Australian leg of Urban’s Ripcord Tour.
Three of the four performers named are nominated for Grammys. Metallica is up for Best Rock Song, while Underwood is in the running for Best Country Solo Performance. Urban is nominated for two awards, including Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Album.
Beyoncé leads all artists with nine nominations under her belt. Other momentous nominees include Rihanna and Drake, who are each up for eight awards. Chance the Rapper also received seven nods, while Adele received five.
“First, it was a total honor to be nominated, but now this?!!? We’re beyond excited that we have been invited to perform on the 59th annual Grammy Awards telecast on Sunday, February 12, 2017,” Metallica wrote on their official website.The legendary rockers went on to add they have “something very unique and special planned” for the celebratory night, urging fans to watch.
The Recording Academy expects to announce additional performers soon.
This year’s Grammy Awards will be hosted by late night personality, James Corden at the Stables Center in Los Angeles. You can catch the show at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS.
