Exclusive: Milkk Talk All Things 'All to Myself'
Milkk have released a new single called ‘All to Myself’. This track is one of many, set to be released over the summer. From listening to this song, we can clearly see that the new era for their music is a more upbeat one. We got to interview them and ask them all about ‘All to Myself’.
We listened to ‘All to Myself’, and we think it is an amazing song. What did you love most about making it?
Thanks! I think what I liked about it was how easy it was to make. It came very naturally, from writing to producing to mixing. It was just a great song from the start and that made it really simple to turn it into what it is now.
Do you think ‘All to Myself’ is among the best songs you have made?
“Best” can be defined in a lot of ways, I suppose. I think it is a very, very strong song. I think it is really “commercially viable” (whatever that means). I think it’s really easy to listen to. But every song has its own value and different reasons why it’s good. I do really love this one though.
What can we expect from this new era of music from you?
Our last album (and the EPs before that) were much more moody and introspective. I purposefully have been trying to write lately from a much more positive place, or at least from a more universal place. I want to put out a batch of songs that people can enjoy and forget about their problems for a little bit. Just really feel-good, love songs, I guess. Alongside that, I think the music is just getting stronger and stronger as we go.
Who/What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I’ve done music since I was in middle school. I got obsessed with bands and artists around that time and wanted to do that for myself. I love performing and I love creating my own little universe that people can live in. So, after many years and countless different projects, we landed on what MILKK is now, and it seems like it’s off to a good start.
What messages would you love to convey through your music?
I mostly just want to write stuff that reminds people that we are all the same. We are all human. There is no hierarchy to being human. Rich, poor, race, status, job, gender, whatever. We are all messed up people and need each other.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would you love to work with?
I’ve always wanted to work with Kanye. That is a goal. Or Tyler, The Creator. I’m very inspired by those people.
What do you have planned for the rest of 2019?
We’re gonna put out a lot of music this year, as well as videos. We are also planning a small tour for the fall. But who knows. Anything can happen.
What would you love to say to all of your fans?
I am genuinely grateful for all the love and support they have shown us from day one. They’ve given us more than we deserve, and we can’t wait to prove them right.
